President Kenyatta to attend landmark AU summit

President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Thursday travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for a five day official visit during which he will attend the 21st Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government.
The AU summit coincides with the 50 year anniversary celebrations of the OAU-AU.
During the Summit President Kenyatta is lined up as one of the key speakers and is, in his inaugural speech, expected to reflect on Kenya’s achievements and national programmes.
During the AU Jubilee celebrations, member states will take stock of the past fifty years, acknowledge the contribution of the founding fathers of the OAU towards pan-Africanism and reflect on the Africa of today and the future.
On his way to Addis Ababa, the Head of State will have a brief stop-over in Juba for a meeting with the Southern Sudan counterpart President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The President will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed and senior government officials.
