CORD governors will visit the US for a conference on devolution.
Party leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the first group of 12 governors will visit the country before end of this month while the second group will go in August.
He was speaking at the Weekend at the Jomo Kenyatta sports ground in Kisumu during the launch of a county  cleanup programme attended by Governor Jack Ranguma and Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o among other local leaders.
He said the conference will enable the leaders acquire knoeledge on how to run their county governments.
“I will ensure that the devolution is achieved by working with the governors," Raila said.
He called on senators to work tirelessly to protect the devolved government saying "some powerful forces are out to kill devolution".
During the launch, Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma was heckled over the county’s ‘lavish’ budget.
Residents shouted him down and chanted as he made his speech but he continued speaking.
They shouted ‘prado’, ‘prado’, in protest against the county’s budget which has set Sh72 million aside to  buy 12 Toyota Prados.
