Corridors of Power

A speaker of one of the 47 county assemblies has refused to surrender an Ipad given to him when he served as a board member of a top parastatal. Attempts by the parastatal to recover the iPad has fallen on deaf ears as the man dismisses the emissaries sent to recover the asset telling them to instruct the parastatal to surcharge him.

The digital administration needs to move fast to update the websites of the various government offices and ministries. More than 100 days after the Jubilee administration took over, the website of the Office of the Deputy President William Ruto which was previously the Office of the Prime Minister still has information and features of Raila Odinga. When this was pointed out, the ICT officers int hat office started passing the blame without anyone taking any action to rectify the situation.

Staff at one of the top private hospitals were taken aback when members of a family which is known to be well off decided to transport the body of one of their dead relatives in the boot of a car without the benefit of even the cheapest of coffins. The staff were left wondering why the family—which paid huge sums of money to clear the deceased relative's hospital bill—could so disrespectfully transport the body in such an uncaring manner.
