Corridors of Power

Thursday, July 4, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY POLITICAL DESK
A former MP from the Rift Valley is spoilt for choice as to which job he should go for. Not only has he been offered a plum appointment in the Jubilee government, he recently got another offer from a multi- national firm which wants him to head its first ever headquarters in the continent. He is now wondering whether to take the government job and all the power and influence that comes with it or take the private sector job where he will well compensated but have little power to influence the country's politics.

Jubilee MPs who were opposed to Njee Muturi being appointed as State House Comptroller have had to eat humble pie after he was appointed solicitor general. The TNA MPs were anti-Muturi just because he had allegedly slighted them when he served as Uhuru's PA when the latter was the leader of opposition.

A second term MP is recovering from what his colleagues are gleefully saying is an 'overdose' of Viagra, a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. The man allegedly took the blue pill at the urging of some of his colleagues during a recent retreat of a house committee in Mombasa. It seems whatever magic the pill was supposed to do failed and the man found himself rushed to hospital with severe chest pains.

A well known businessman has been admitted to a hospital in South Africa after he was ordered to pay huge tax bill that sent his blood pressure shooting. The man became withdrawn and reclusive once he got the demand note from the taxman. His concerned family decided to take him to SA, not only for medical attention but also away from the pressures and stress of having to find a solution to his tax troubles.
