The lover of former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju’s estranged wife was finally laid to rest on Sunday at their Manyala village home in Suba District, Homa Bay County.
Tony Ogunda, a former General Service Unit (GSU) Police Officer, was laid to rest in his father’s farm during a solemn ceremony that attracted hundreds of mourners.
Conspicuously absent however, was his wife Esther Dianga who many thought could show up.
Mourners led by Homa bay County Assembly Deputy Speaker Mr Eliphalet Omoro Osuri demanded a thorough probe into the murder of their son.
“We hope this will not be another case where Police are quick to claim that no stone will be left unturned until Ogunda’s killers are brought to book”, said the Deputy Speaker.
Mr Osuri said detectives investigating the Murder of Ogunda have the obligation to let his friends and relatives know who killed him.
“As friends and relatives of Ogunda, we are optimistic that the mystery of his death will soon be unravelled”, added Mr Osuri.
The appeals come three days after police released Cosmas Opondo who had been arrested in connection with Ogunda’s murder.
Opondo, who spent a week in custody, was released by police after it emerged that the evidence gathered could not sustain a charge against him.
A High court Judge in Nairobi, Justice Roselyne Korir, however ordered Opondo to ‘cooperate’ with investigators and report to Kilimani divisional Criminal Investigations officer every Monday and Thursday pending further orders from the court.
