Tina Turner married her partner of 27 years, German producer Erwin Bach, "a few days ago" in a civil ceremony on Lake Zurich in northern Switzerland, municipal official Hannes Friess toldthe AFP.
But the party is just beginning. The two plan to celebrate in style at Kusnacht Manor, also in northern Switzerland, over the weekend with a Buddhist ceremony. According to reports, the 120 friends and family members, including Oprah WinfreyDavid Bowie, and Sade, were asked to dress in all white.
Turner is expected to don a white dress by Giorgio Armani.
Turner, 73, and Bach, 57, have been living together in Switzerland for 18 years. In January, it was revealed that Turner was going to be "giving back" her U.S. citizenship in order to become a Swiss citizen, and, in April, the change became a permanent one.
"I am very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here," she told the German newspaper Blick. "I could not imagine a better place to live.”
Turner and Bach met in 1985 while he worked as a record producer at EMI, and they have been dating since the '90s.
In a 1996 interview with "60 Minutes," Bach noted that it's Turner who's in charge in their relationship. "I think she is the boss, yeah," he said. "I'm second to the boss, but she's the boss."
Bach also made it quite clear how he feels about the "Proud Mary" singer. "I'm not in love with the rock act," he said. "I'm in love with the human being."
This is the second marriage for Tina, who was married to Ike Turner from 1962 to 1978. He passed away in 2007.
